Over 20 years ago, the Hannah Carter Japanese Garden was donated to UCLA by Ed and Hannah Carter. In their will, they also donated the adjoining property, on which their house was built, under the explicit condition that proceeds from the sale of the house be used first and foremost to endow the garden so that it can remain open to the public in perpetuity. Following their death, UCLA went to court behind the backs of Ed and Hannah's family and had their will overturned. UCLA has subsequently listed the garden on the market. It will now most likely be sold to someone who will bulldoze it and build a mansion on it unless something is done to prevent the sale. Ed and Hannah loved UCLA, and this garden is their legacy to the world. Please help us prevent this grave injustice from occurring.
